MYBottle Collection

A LITTLE HELP WITH YOUR CABINET

Make yourself at home.

Set up your account, keep your collection together, and connect it to ChatGPT.

Accounts & email verification

My Bottle Collection uses email verification as part of its authentication. This confirms that you can access the email address attached to your account before you sign in.

  1. On the sign-in page, choose New here? Create an account, when registration is available.
  2. Enter your name, email address and a password of 12–128 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number and a symbol.
  3. Check your inbox for the verification email. Open its link, then select Verify email on the website.
  4. Return to the sign-in page and sign in with your email address and password.

If the email hasn’t arrived, check your spam or junk folder and confirm the address you entered. Use Resend verification email on the sign-in page to request another. If a link is invalid or expired, request a fresh email.

Use Forgot password? to request a password reset email. After resetting your password, sign in again; you may also need to reconnect ChatGPT. Email request messages deliberately do not confirm whether an account exists.

Google or Facebook sign-in may be available when enabled. Follow any email verification or account-linking steps shown; those buttons are unavailable when a provider is not configured.

Your collection

Create a cabinet, then choose Add a bottle. Keep one record per physical bottle and leave unknown details blank. You can add photos, record completed pours and keep tasting notes with each bottle.

Cabinet access controls what you can do: Viewers browse, Editors update bottles and record pours, and Owners also manage people and public links. Public share links can be forwarded and show live details, so choose the included fields carefully.

Connect your collection to ChatGPT

The ChatGPT feature uses an MCP plugin: a connection that lets ChatGPT use My Bottle Collection’s tools on your behalf. Each person connects their own My Bottle Collection account. Your cabinet access still determines what you can view or change.

Start in ChatGPT on the web. Adding custom MCP plugins depends on your account’s available features and workspace permissions. If the option is missing, check with your workspace administrator or consult the official OpenAI setup guide.

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT. Select the plus (+) button, then Add custom MCP server. Labels may vary as ChatGPT changes.
  2. Enter the following connection details:
    Name
    My Bottle Collection Cloud
    Server URL
    https://mybottlecollection.com/mcp
    Authentication
    OAuth
    Client ID, if requested
    cabinet-chatgpt
    Client secret
Leave blank. This connection uses a public OAuth client with PKCE.
Choose provided or pre-registered client credentials if asked how to identify the client. If a token authentication method is requested, use none. Let OAuth discovery supply endpoints and scopes.
  3. Review ChatGPT’s connection notice and create the plugin. Install it if prompted, then choose Connect.
  4. When My Bottle Collection opens, sign in with your verified account. Review the requested access and choose Allow if you want to grant it. Your My Bottle Collection password belongs on this website, not in a chat message.
  5. Return to ChatGPT. In a new chat, type @ and select My Bottle Collection Cloud. Try asking: “Show me the bottles in my cabinet.”

You can also ask to find a bottle, view its photo or record a completed pour. For a larger photo, ask for the full-size image. Review proposed changes and supply missing details when asked.

To stop access, sign in here and choose ChatGPT access beside your account name, then disconnect the grant. You can also manage the connection in ChatGPT. Disconnecting stops future access; it does not remove information already returned in a conversation.

If the connection needs a hand

Connected, but no tools appear

Open the connected plugin’s settings in ChatGPT and use Refresh tools. Start a new chat and select the plugin with @. If it still fails, note the exact error and time for the site administrator.

OAuth or issuer error

Try a fresh connection from ChatGPT on the web. Check the server URL and client ID above. If the error persists, the site administrator needs to check the server’s OAuth settings and the exact callback URL shown by ChatGPT. Changing your password or repeatedly clicking Allow will not fix a server configuration mismatch.

My cabinet is missing or I cannot edit it

Make sure you connected the intended My Bottle Collection account. Ask the cabinet Owner to check your membership and role. Connecting ChatGPT does not grant additional cabinet permissions.

A photo does not display

Confirm the bottle has a photo in the website, then ask ChatGPT to show that bottle’s photo again. Display support varies between chat clients; ask for an image attachment if the preview is missing.
