COLLECTOR GUIDES
Manage your bottle collection with ChatGPT
The optional ChatGPT connection lets you work with your My Bottle Collection cabinet in conversation. It uses your account's permissions and the same collection records as the website.
Connect your own account
You need a My Bottle Collection account and a ChatGPT account or workspace that supports custom MCP connections. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings. The website remains available without this optional connection.
Follow the ChatGPT connection instructions to add the service, sign in on My Bottle Collection and review the requested permissions. You can revoke the connection through the website's ChatGPT access controls. Do not paste passwords or verification links into a chat.
Start with a question about your cabinet
Useful first requests include “Show the open bottles in my cabinet”, “Which bottles are missing a size?” and “Show this bottle's timeline”. If you have more than one cabinet or two bottles with the same name, identify the cabinet and physical bottle you mean.
Unknown details should remain unknown. Ask for an estimate to be labelled as an estimate, rather than turning a guess into a measured volume. A current collection read is more useful than an old chat message when stock has changed.
Keep wishes, purchases and pours clear
“Add this bottle to my wishlist” records a future interest. It does not add stock. When a wished-for bottle is actually in your possession, say that you have received or collected it and give the quantity and known details per bottle. Purchase history keeps the original wish separate from the amount paid.
For a completed tasting you want tracked, a clear request could be: “I have just shared 30 mL total from this opened bottle with a friend. Record the pour and deduct it from stock.” This is an example only. Give the actual bottle, amount and date for your event, and say if you want log-only instead. Plans for a future tasting should not deduct stock.
Your cabinet role still applies
A Viewer can read; an Editor can manage collection records; an Owner also manages membership and sharing. Connecting ChatGPT does not increase those permissions. Account changes and sensitive account confirmations stay on the website.
For the underlying workflows, read the bottle inventory guide and the tasting journal guide. The connection troubleshooting guide covers common setup issues.
