COLLECTOR GUIDES

Manage your bottle collection with Claude

Talk to Claude about the bottles you actually own. Find an open whisky, read tasting notes and timelines, manage your wishlist or record a completed pour using your My Bottle Collection account.

Claude is an optional way to use the same cabinet as the website. You choose whether to connect and approve access. Your current cabinet role still applies.

Connect your Claude account

Sign in to My Bottle Collection and choose Claude Access beside your account name. This shows the connection details for this installation and whether Claude setup is enabled.

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, choose Add → Add custom connector, and name it My Bottle Collection.
  2. Enter the remote MCP server URL below. Choose OAuth authentication and Use your own OAuth client (or open Advanced settings). Enter the client ID and leave the client secret blank.
  3. Connect, sign in on My Bottle Collection and review the permissions before choosing Allow connection. Each person connects their own collection account.
  4. Enable My Bottle Collection in the Claude conversation’s connectors menu, then ask it to list your cabinets.

Open Claude connectors

Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free currently allows one custom connector. Team and Enterprise workspaces may need an Owner to add the connector first; members then connect individually. Availability, menu labels and usage limits can change. See Claude’s current setup guide.

This is a custom connector; it does not imply an Anthropic directory listing or approval. It connects through your Claude account on the web or desktop. Claude Code uses a different setup and is not covered by this guide.

Start with your cabinet

Try these requests after connecting:

  • “List my cabinets, then show the open bottles in the one I choose.”
  • “Which bottles are missing a size or an alcohol percentage?”
  • “Read the timeline, ratings and approved tasting comments for my opened bottle of [name].”
  • “Add [bottle name] to my wishlist.”

Give enough detail to distinguish two physical bottles with the same name. Read current records before changes, and leave unknown amounts unknown. Label estimates clearly.

For a pour already completed, give the bottle, actual date, total volume and whether to deduct stock or log only. Plans never deduct stock. A wishlist purchase becomes stock only after you confirm the bottles are in your possession.

Owners can ask Claude to save their own rating. Editors can rate on the website. Rating invitations and comment approval stay on the website, and comments added through a connection still need Owner approval.

Your permissions. Your choice.

Viewers can read; Editors manage stock and pours; Owners also manage sharing and membership. A connection never increases your role. Review any requested sharing permissions carefully. Account changes and sensitive confirmations stay on the website.

Requested collection information, photos and tool results are sent to Anthropic when you use Claude. Review your Claude privacy settings and our privacy policy. Do not paste website passwords, verification links or access tokens into chat.

Choose Claude Access → Disconnect to revoke a Claude grant, or manage the connector in Claude. ChatGPT and Claude grants are separate. Disconnecting stops future authorized access and refresh, but cannot remove information already returned in a conversation.

If the connection needs a hand

Claude says it cannot register or authorize

Choose “Use your own OAuth client” and enter cabinet-claude, leaving the secret blank. Automatic registration and Claude’s published identity are not supported by this installation. If Claude Access says setup is unavailable, the site administrator must enable the configured Claude client. Repeatedly approving consent cannot fix a configuration mismatch.

The connector is missing or has no tools

Check your plan’s connector limit and your workspace’s rules. Enable the connector for the conversation. Reconnect or start a fresh conversation if tool discovery is stale. If it still fails, note the error and time for support without sharing credentials.

My cabinet is missing or I cannot edit it

Check that you connected the intended My Bottle Collection account. Ask the cabinet Owner to confirm membership and role. A Viewer cannot add bottles even if the connection has write permission.
